Accessibility Statement
This statement was prepared following a full-site technical review completed August 2026. It covers all pages published at this address.
DodecaGreen is partially conformant with WCAG 2.1 Level AA. Partially conformant means most of the site meets the standard, with specific known exceptions listed below — it does not mean the site is broadly inaccessible.
Who this statement covers
This statement applies to the DodecaGreen website (all pages under this domain: the homepage, the twelve principle guides, all calculator tools, and this site's policy pages). DodecaGreen is developed and maintained by Dr Benji Fenech-Salerno at Imperial College London.
How accessible this website is
We know some parts of this website are not yet fully accessible:
- Some interactive tooltips (the contributor-credit table present on every tool and principle page) are reachable and operable by keyboard, but a specific secondary behaviour — being able to move your pointer from the triggering cell onto the tooltip itself without it closing — is a best-effort implementation rather than a complete one, given how that component is built across the site's different page templates.
- This statement, and the technical review behind it, is based on automated and code-level testing rather than a full manual walkthrough with assistive technology (screen readers, voice control, or switch devices). We consider this the most likely place for undiscovered issues to exist, and plan to carry out that testing directly — see "What we're doing to improve accessibility" below.
Beyond the items above, we are not currently aware of other content that fails WCAG 2.1 AA. If you find something not listed here, please tell us — see "Reporting accessibility problems" below.
What we've already done
Following a full-site review, the following are in place across the whole site:
- Every page can be navigated and operated by keyboard alone, including a "skip to content" link and keyboard-operable collapsible sections
- Calculator results announce themselves to screen readers as they update, rather than requiring the user to search for what changed
- Data tables use properly associated column headers
- Form fields have accessible names, including fields added dynamically (e.g. "add another reagent" rows)
- Text and interface colours meet WCAG AA contrast requirements
- An on-page accessibility panel (see the how to use it guide) offers text size, high contrast, a dyslexia-friendly font, extra spacing, a reading guide, reduced motion, and adjustable-speed read-aloud — as a supplementary aid, not a substitute for the underlying page being accessible on its own
What we're doing to improve accessibility
We intend to carry out a manual test of representative pages using at least one screen reader (e.g. NVDA or VoiceOver), covering the homepage, a full calculator workflow, a principle guide page, and the accessibility panel itself, and to update this statement with the results.
We re-run an automated accessibility check across the whole site (landmarks, labelling, live regions, contrast, and more) before publishing changes, to catch regressions before they reach visitors.
Technical information about this website's accessibility
DodecaGreen is committed to making its website accessible, in line with the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018.
Compliance status: This website is partially conformant with WCAG 2.1 AA, due to the exceptions listed above.
Preparation of this accessibility statement
This statement was prepared in August 2026. It was last reviewed following a full-site technical audit covering all page templates in use across the site.
This website was last tested in August 2026. The review was carried out via structural/code-level analysis (markup patterns, computed colour contrast, keyboard and screen-reader-relevant attributes) across every page, supplemented by representative testing in a live browser. It has not yet been tested by a person using assistive technology directly — see "What we're doing to improve accessibility" above.
Reporting accessibility problems
We want to know about any accessibility barriers you come across on DodecaGreen. Please tell us:
Email: [email protected]
Please include the page you were on and, if you can, what assistive technology (if any) you were using — it helps us reproduce and fix the issue faster.
Enforcement procedure
The Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC) is responsible for enforcing the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018 (the "accessibility regulations"). If you're not happy with how we respond to your complaint, contact the Equality Advisory and Support Service (EASS).
