Who we are

DodecaGreen is an open educational resource for green chemistry, designed by Dr Benji Fenech-Salerno at Imperial College London. The site is hosted on GitHub Pages and is free to use.

What data we collect

If you accept analytics cookies, we collect the following data via Google Analytics 4:

Pages visited and time spent on each page
Country of origin (derived from your IP address, which is then anonymised)
Browser and device type
How you arrived at the site (e.g. search engine, direct link)
Interactions within the site: which principle pages are opened, which calculator tools are visited, whether PDF export or session save features are used, and which external links are clicked

If you decline, no cookies are set and no personally identifiable data is collected. Google Analytics may still receive a cookieless, anonymised ping for aggregate modelling purposes — this contains no user-identifiable information.

DodecaGreen itself is entirely browser-local: no calculation inputs, scores, or session data are ever sent to any server.

Why we collect it

Analytics data helps us understand which parts of DodecaGreen are most useful, where users come from, and how the tools are being used in practice. This informs decisions about where to focus development effort.

Legal basis (GDPR)

We rely on explicit consent (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR) as the legal basis for setting analytics cookies. You are free to decline without any loss of functionality.

Data processor: Google Analytics

Analytics data is processed by Google LLC under a Data Processing Agreement. Google may transfer data to servers outside the UK/EEA; Google uses Standard Contractual Clauses for these transfers.

Data retention

Google Analytics retains event-level data for 14 months by default. Aggregated reports are retained indefinitely. No analytics data is stored locally on this site.
